More Comfortable
- Lighter: The Pro 40L is now 4.4 lb, down from 4.5 lb.
- More stable back panel and carry from a thicker framesheet
- New size: If the Pro 40L is too big or heavy for you, it's now available in a 34L size that's 15% smaller.

Better hip belt that also fits smaller waists: The new hip belt attachment system replaces the velcro strap with a gatekeeper clip. The hip pads start farther back, giving you a better “wrap around” effect and a better fit on smaller waists. The hip belt will now also fit a wider range of hips from 23-68 inches (previously 34-62 inches).
- Note that the hip belt is included with the 40L but not with the 34L.
Better Packing and Organization
- More packing space in the main compartment: The main (right side) compartment is now 80% of the bag’s depth, up from 70%.
- Carry larger water bottles: The deeper main compartment also means wider water bottle pockets. The new pockets are larger and made of stretch mesh, so they fit larger bottles.
- Better pockets on the left side of the main compartment: Two stacked mesh pockets are like getting a free set of built-in packing cubes
- Improved laptop sleeve: Removed the velcro tab for easier access and removed the reversed zipper for the framesheet construction so no one is confused about it
- Redesigned, more flexible admin panel: No more card pockets!
- More durable top and side handles: With improved construction
- Longer zipper pullers on the main compartment to make them easier to find and grab
- Improved access to the top pocket with a wider opening and an upgraded key leash
