FAQs

Do Tortuga travel backpacks fit as carry on luggage?

Yes, all Tortuga travel backpacks meet major airline carry on limits. The Travel Backpack Pro and Travel Backpack Lite measure 22 × 14 × 8 inches (55 × 35 × 20 cm). The Expandable Backpack measures 19.2 × 12.5 × 6.9 inches (49 × 32 × 18 cm) when unexpanded.

Which Tortuga travel backpack should I choose?

Choose your Tortuga backpack based on your trip length and comfort needs. The Pro and Lite are maximum-sized 40L carry-ons for week-long trips. The Expandable is a smaller weekender that expands when needed. When choosing between the Pro and the Lite, pick the Pro for maximum comfort, weatherproofing, and organization. Choose the Lite for lighter weight and streamlined organization.

How much can I pack in a Tortuga travel backpack?

Tortuga travel backpacks hold enough for extended trips of a week or more, all in a carry on. The 40L Pro and Lite accommodate 7-10 days of clothing. The Expandable holds 2-3 nights at 27L or expands to 32.5L for longer trips.

Do Tortuga travel backpacks work for both men and women?

Yes, all Tortuga travel backpacks fit different body types. The Pro has a fully adjustable harness to fit nearly everyone. The Lite fits medium to long torsos (19-21 inches) while the Expandable accommodates shorter torsos (17-19 inches) and is often preferred by women.

How do I know if a Tortuga travel backpack will fit my body properly?

The perfect fit depends on your torso length as measured from your C7 vertebra to your hip bones. The Pro fits all torso sizes, the Lite fits 19-21 inch torsos, and the Expandable fits 17-19 inch torsos. Learn how to measure and fit your backpack with our guide and video.

Suitcases Aren't Built For City Travel

You need a purpose-built travel backpack for your big trip.

  • Carry-On-Sized: Pack as light as possible while still bringing everything you need. Using a carry on means you don't have to pay baggage fees or worry about your bag getting damaged or lost.
  • Comfortable to Carry: Unlike a suitcase, a backpack works on any terrain from cobblestone streets to dirt roads to stairs. Choose a bag with a padded, weight-bearing hip belt to prevent pain and fatigue.
  • Easy to Pack: Keep everything organized and accessible. Travel backpacks open and pack like suitcases, not like messy hiking bags.
  • Built to Last: Your bag should be as tough as you so you never have to worry about replacing it when you're halfway around the world.

Don't compromise on your luggage. Invest in high-quality gear for your future trips.
